Ever asked an AI for a poster and got a headline that said "GRAND OPNEING SLAE"?
Canva thinks it has fixed that.
Last week it launched Craft, its first image model built in-house.
Before it draws anything, Craft makes a plan: where each object goes, how big it is, what matters most, and what the text says. Then a second step draws the image.
Canva trained it on designs made by people (posters, social posts, presentations, menus) instead of photos.
The result, according to Canva: sharper details and text you can actually read.
(Spelling still deserves a second look. More on that below.)
Right after this: where to find it, a prompt built for clean text, and how to turn the image into something you can edit.
Now a quick word from today's sponsor.

Where to find it
Craft is available to all Canva users in Dream Lab, which sits in the panel on the left.
What it gives you:
Images up to 2K resolution
About 30 aspect ratios, so you can make a square post, a story or a banner from the same idea
Prompts in any language, and text on the image in 55 languages
Canva's other AI image models are staying, so Craft sits alongside them.
The prompt
The trick is to tell it exactly what the text says, in quotes, and what matters most:
A square Instagram post for [your business], announcing [your offer].
Headline, large and centered: "[exact headline]"
Small text at the bottom: "[date or call to action]"
Style: [clean and bold / warm and friendly / minimal].
Leave plenty of space around the headline.Keep the headline short (fewer words, fewer letters to get wrong).
Make it editable
This is where Canva has an edge over a standalone image tool.
Generate your image in Dream Lab.
Need one part changed? Craft can edit a single part of an image and leave the rest alone.
Want to move things around yourself? Use Canva Magic to turn the image into a layered design, with pieces you can move and change.
The honest part
Canva hasn't said how many Craft images you get on each plan.
The quality claims come from Canva. On the public DesignArena leaderboard, Craft debuted in fourth place, behind three OpenAI models.
Text comes out better, and it still needs a proofread. Read every word before you post it, and check it at phone size.
Make it stick
Save the prompt above with your brand colors and style already filled in.
Next time you need a post, you only change the headline.
Saving your style once so every new design starts from it is how you stop redoing the same work. Do that for your whole business and you've got a team that never forgets how you like things. That's the whole idea behind The One-Person Company Playbook.
It's the complete setup for running a business where AI does the work of a full team. Inside:
A company folder with your brief, pipeline tracker and invoice log already laid out, so any AI picks up where you left off
Thirty AI roles across six departments, from sales to finance, ready to use
Six jobs that run on a clock: the morning briefing, follow-ups, invoice checks and more
The step-by-step path from picking a business model to your first paying customer
Works on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok, whichever you already pay for.
The catch: it takes about eight hours over a weekend to set up. After that, it's yours. $97, one-time (down from $297).
Talk tomorrow,
Zephyr
P.S. Try the prompt, then hit reply: did the headline come out spelled right on the first go?
