Ask ChatGPT a money question this week and you might get a calculator back instead of a paragraph.
With sliders you can drag.
Last week, OpenAI rolled out GPT-6 to everyone. Plus, Pro and business plans got it on Wednesday, October 7. Free and Go users got it on Thursday.
It came with something OpenAI calls Intelligent UI. Answers can now include "graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, and interactive experiences" you use right in the chat.
OpenAI's line for it: "Instead of people adapting to software, software will adapt to people."
(Bold claim from the company that made us all learn to type "act as an expert" for three years.)
ChatGPT decides on its own when to show a tool. But you don't have to wait for it to decide. OpenAI says you can just ask it "to create a tool for the task at hand."
So that's today's job: stop asking questions, start ordering tools.
Right after this: five prompts that turn ChatGPT into five little apps for your week.
Now a quick word from today's sponsor.

Right. Back to it.
What it can build
OpenAI's own examples: a bill splitter, a retirement savings calculator, a road-trip planner, and a Sunday roast planner where the quantities change when you change the number of guests.
That last one shows what's different: you tap instead of asking again.
Change a number, and the whole answer updates in front of you.
It works in the Chat tab. Free plan included.
Five prompts for your week
Copy any one of these into a new chat:
1. Build me a pricing calculator: my cost per job, hours, hourly rate and markup. Show profit per job and let me adjust each number.
2. Make a break-even tool: monthly fixed costs, price per sale, cost per sale. Show how many sales I need, with a chart.
3. Compare two loans side by side: amount, rate and term for each. Show monthly payment and total interest, with inputs I can change.
4. Turn this project into a checklist I can tick off, grouped by week: [paste your project notes].
5. Build a quote builder for my services: [list your services and prices]. Let me pick services and quantities and show the total.Number 1 is the one I'd start with. Most people have never seen their real profit per job laid out like that.
Three things to know before you trust it
Check the maths once. Pick one number and work it out yourself. If it matches, keep going. One Hacker News user asked the obvious question: how would anyone know a generated chart is right? Exactly. One manual check.
It doesn't carry over to a new chat. OpenAI's help page: "State is not retained across chat threads." Checklists do keep their ticks if you refresh the page.
It doesn't show up everywhere. Not in the Work tab, not in Voice, not in older desktop apps, and not when you pick the Pro reasoning option.
Too much? Turn it down
Not everyone wants a dashboard when they ask how long to boil an egg.
Settings → Personalization → Layout and Visuals → Simple.
OpenAI says some visuals may still appear. But you'll get mostly text back.
One for the parents
If a teenager in your house uses free ChatGPT, this is worth a minute.
OpenAI's own safety report shows the new free model scored lower than the old one on tests about teens getting emotionally reliant on it. 0.734, down from 0.927. Higher is safer.
OpenAI says that test is "overly sensitive" to casual nicknames, and that an extra teen safety filter isn't counted in the score.
Maybe. Still a good week to ask your teen what they use it for.
Make it stick
When ChatGPT builds you a tool you like, rename that chat. "Pricing calculator." "Monday checklist."
Next time, go back to that same chat instead of opening a new one. A new chat starts from scratch.
A tool you build once and reuse beats an answer you ask for every week. That's the whole idea behind The One-Person Company Playbook.
It's the complete setup for running a business where AI does the work of a full team. Inside:
A company folder with your brief, pipeline tracker and invoice log already laid out, so any AI picks up where you left off
Thirty AI roles across six departments, from sales to finance, ready to use
Six jobs that run on a clock: the morning briefing, follow-ups, invoice checks and more
The step-by-step path from picking a business model to your first paying customer
Works on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok, whichever you already pay for.
The catch: it takes about eight hours over a weekend to set up. After that, it's yours. $97, one-time (down from $297).
Talk tomorrow,
Zephyr
P.S. Try prompt number 1 with your real numbers, then hit reply: was your profit per job higher or lower than you thought?
