How many good Gemini chats have you lost in your history this month?

The one where you finally worked out your pricing. The competitor research. The plan for next quarter.

As of last week, you can save them into a notebook without leaving the chat.

Google made Gemini Notebook a connected app inside Gemini. Type @Gemini Notebook in any chat, and you can create notebooks, add sources, save notes and ask questions across everything you've saved.

It works on personal Google accounts, Workspace and Workspace Individual. And it's already switched on for you, unless you're in the European Economic Area.

(Google lists no paid plan for it, and it works on regular personal accounts. Nothing new to install.)

Right after this: four prompts that turn scattered chats into a research library, plus the one habit that makes it pay off.

Now a quick word from today's sponsor.

Turn today's calls into tomorrow's proposal

Wispr Flow Notetaker brings your meetings into Claude or ChatGPT through a built-in connector. Ask for a proposal draft or a deal recap, and your AI works from an accurate record of what was said.

Right. Back to it.

What you can do from a chat

  • Create, edit or delete a notebook

  • Add a source, including a copy of the chat you're in

  • List what's in a notebook

  • Ask questions answered from your notebooks

You don't always have to type the @ either. Gemini can spot when a request needs your notebooks and use them on its own.

The four prompts

Swap in your own names, and call each notebook the same thing every time so you're never guessing which one is which.

Prompt 1. Start a notebook:

@Gemini Notebook create a notebook called "Client research"

Prompt 2. Save the chat you're in:

Add a copy of this chat to my "Client research" notebook

Prompt 3. Check what's in it:

Show me a list of all the sources in my "Client research" notebook

Prompt 4. Ask across everything:

What do my notebooks say about [topic]?

That last one is the payoff. Weeks of chats, answered in one question.

A workflow that works

  1. Do your research in a normal Gemini chat.

  2. When you get an answer worth keeping, save the chat to the right notebook.

  3. Next time you need it, ask your notebooks instead of scrolling your history.

Turning it off

Don't want Gemini reaching into your notebooks? Go to Settings, then Connected Apps, in the Gemini app.

In the European Economic Area it's off by default, so that's also where you turn it on.

Make it stick

Make one notebook per client or project, and name it the way you'd say it out loud.

Then end every useful chat with prompt 2.

A notebook per client is the start of something bigger: one place where your whole business lives, ready for any AI to read. That's the whole idea behind The One-Person Company Playbook.

It's the complete setup for running a business where AI does the work of a full team. Inside:

  • A company folder with your brief, pipeline tracker and invoice log already laid out, so any AI picks up where you left off

  • Thirty AI roles across six departments, from sales to finance, ready to use

  • Six jobs that run on a clock: the morning briefing, follow-ups, invoice checks and more

  • The step-by-step path from picking a business model to your first paying customer

Works on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok, whichever you already pay for.

The catch: it takes about eight hours over a weekend to set up. After that, it's yours. $97, one-time (down from $297).

Talk tomorrow,
Zephyr

P.S. What's the first notebook you're making? Hit reply with the name. I'm collecting good ones.
