We have some exciting AI news today: OpenAI has unveiled Codex, a groundbreaking AI coding assistant, and China has initiated the assembly of a supercomputer network in space.

1. OpenAI Launches Codex: A Cloud-Based AI Agent That Codes Like a Teammate
OpenAI has unveiled Codex, a powerful cloud-based AI agent built to handle the full software engineering workflow, writing features, fixing bugs, answering questions, and proposing pull requests. Powered by the new codex-1 model, Codex runs each task in a secure cloud sandbox with your repo preloaded, offering parallel task execution and real-time progress tracking. Now available to ChatGPT Pro, Team, and Enterprise users, with Plus access coming soon, Codex is OpenAIās bold step toward transforming coding into a collaborative effort between developers and intelligent agents.

2. China Launches First AI Supercomputer Satellites, Begins Building Space-Based Computing Network
China has kicked off the construction of an orbital AI supercomputer by launching the first 12 satellites of a planned 2,800-satellite constellation. Developed by ADA Space, the network will process data in orbit using onboard 8-billion-parameter AI models, reducing reliance on Earth-based stations and speeding up analysis. With ultra-fast laser communication and a goal of hitting 1,000 peta operations per second, this āThree-Body Computing Constellationā could revolutionise space data processing, emergency response, and even digital twin simulations for industries like gaming and tourism.

3. Microsoft Wants AI Agents to Collaborate and Remember What You Said
Ahead of its Build conference, Microsoft revealed a bold vision for AI: agents from different companies working together like apps on the web and with memories that actually stick. By supporting an open standard called Model Context Protocol (MCP), Microsoft aims to create an āagentic webā where AI systems can share tasks and context seamlessly. To make these agents more useful long-term, Microsoft is also developing a memory system called structured retrieval augmentation, allowing agents to remember past conversations without sky-high compute costs.

4. Netflix to Launch AI-Generated Ads During Shows and Pauses in 2026
Netflix is taking ads to the next (and possibly more annoying) level. Using generative AI to create interactive midroll and pause ads for its ad-supported plans starting next year. Announced during its latest Upfront event, Netflix says these custom AI-generated spots will play in the middle of shows or whenever you hit pause, aiming to boost advertiser appeal. While the company continues to raise prices on ad-free tiers, this move could push more users into the AI-powered ad experience, turning the once ad-free binge haven into yet another interruption-filled platform.

5. Nvidia Unveils NVLink Fusion to Supercharge AI Chip Communication
At Computex 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced NVLink Fusion, a new technology designed to dramatically speed up communication between AI chips, and itās now being offered to other chipmakers like MediaTek and Marvell. This marks a major move as Nvidia shifts from graphics dominance to AI infrastructure leadership. NVLink Fusion enables more powerful custom AI systems by linking multiple chips together at lightning speeds. Nvidia also revealed its desktop AI PC, DGX Spark, will be available within weeks, and announced plans to open a new Taiwan headquarters.
