Recent court documents reveal that Meta Platforms used pirated versions of copyrighted books to train its AI systems, with the knowledge and approval of CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Authors including Ta-Nehisi Coates and Sarah Silverman have filed lawsuits claiming that Meta utilized the LibGen dataset, known for containing millions of pirated works, to develop its large language model Llama. Despite internal concerns about the legality of using LibGen, Meta proceeded under Zuckerberg's directive. The authors are seeking to file updated complaints that include new computer fraud claims.

6. Microsoft Reverts Bing Image Creator Update Following User Complaints
Microsoft has begun rolling back its recent upgrade to Bing Image Creator, which implemented the DALL-E 3 model (PR16), after users reported a decline in image quality. In response to the feedback, Microsoft's head of search, Jordi Ribas, announced that the service would revert to the previous DALL-E model (PR13), a process expected to take up to three weeks to complete.
