1. OpenAI Acquires Premium Domain Chat.com, Moves ChatGPT There

OpenAI now owns chat.com, a premium domain previously purchased by HubSpot's Dharmesh Shah for $15.5 million. Shah confirmed OpenAI acquired the domain, potentially for equity. The move reflects OpenAI's recent rebranding, with simpler names like the "o1" reasoning model series. With OpenAI’s recent funding of $6.6 billion, securing chat.com positions ChatGPT for a broader audience, underscoring the platform's focus on user-friendly chat interfaces.

2. Google’s Jarvis AI Prototype Leaks on Chrome Web Store

Google’s experimental AI, Jarvis, accidentally surfaced on the Chrome Web Store, described as a browser assistant capable of handling tasks like online shopping, booking flights, and research. Although not fully functional, Jarvis could eventually control a computer to perform actions independently. Google removed the listing, planning a formal launch in December. The assistant will face competition from similar tools like Anthropic’s Claude, which can already navigate a browser to perform tasks.

3. Perplexity AI Outshines Musk’s Grok in Real-Time Election Coverage

Perplexity AI stood out during the U.S. presidential election by offering real-time insights and interactive maps, powered by data from Democracy Works and the AP. Unlike Elon Musk’s Grok, which provided inaccurate race results, Perplexity gave mostly reliable election information and overcame minor bugs on election night. Although its approach risks competition with media companies, Perplexity’s accurate, on-demand election coverage showcased its potential as an emerging player in AI-driven news.

SNVIDIA announced advanced AI and simulation tools at the Conference for Robot Learning, including the open-source Isaac Lab framework, Project GR00T’s six workflows for humanoid robotics, and Cosmos and NeMo Curator for data processing. These tools accelerate robot training, motion, and image curation, making robot development faster and more efficient. NVIDIA also partnered with Hugging Face to support open-source robotics research and released guides to enhance robotics development worldwide.

6. UK Project Receives £5.9M to Use AI for Virtual Cancer Trials

Cancer Research UK has awarded £5.9 million to support AI-driven cancer treatment research led by the University of Manchester and The Christie hospital.
