Okay, what this is actually good for.
The web is where a mountain of your busywork lives. Comparison shopping. Filling the same form over and over. Copying details off ten pages into one place. Checking prices, hours, listings.
That's exactly the stuff Claude in Chrome takes.
A few real examples:
- "Go through these five product pages and give me a table comparing price, warranty, and shipping."
- "Fill in this application form using the details from my saved doc."
- "Find the opening hours and phone number for the top five plumbers near me."

How to switch it on.
Go to claude .com, add the Claude for Chrome extension, and sign in on your plan. You grant it permission to act in the browser. Then you just ask, in plain language, the way you would in the app.
Now the part that matters, because this is new.
Give it a job, not the keys to your life.
Claude in Chrome asks before doing anything sensitive, and you should keep it that way. There's a real risk with browser agents called prompt injection. A sketchy webpage tries to trick the AI into doing something you didn't ask. Anthropic built in safeguards. You're still the last line.
So, two rules.
One, watch it on anything with a login or a payment. Approve those steps yourself.
Two, start it on low-stakes jobs. Research, comparisons, forms on sites you trust. Build the habit before you hand it anything that spends money.

Open these pages one by one: [paste 3-5 links].
For each, pull out [the 3-4 things you care about: price, key features, dates, whatever matters].
